Juliana Areias, Brazilian singer-songwriter joins Cheeky Tunes as our music commentator

Tonight's Cheeky Tunes Friday Happy hour has a line up of actors, directors and Brazilian musicians. To help bring this vast diverse world together, Juliana Areias tunes in from her home in Perth to share her knowledge and comment on the songs performed by Marilane de Mello and her new quintet. 

Juliana Areias is an award-winning Brazilian Singer-Songwriter. Her debut original album “Bossa Nova Baby” won “Best Brazilian Album” at the US Focus Brazil Awards in 2019 and spent five weeks in the US Jazz Top 100 .

This Saturday Juliana Areias will be performing True Live Concert (already Sold Out) two weeks ago. This is the first time she's back on stage since her show at the Foundry 616 in March prior to Sydney lockdown. Her next concert will be "Juliana Areias Jobim Songbook, September 19 and is already selling fast. 

Juliana has been nominated five times for Western Australian Music Awards including Best World Music Act and Best Song. Dubbed the “Bossa Nova Baby” by iconic Brazilian journalist Ruy Castro, Juliana has performed across Europe, USA, Japan, Latin America and Australia – including shows at the Sydney Opera House, Montreux Jazz Festival, Ronnie Scott’s in London, the Green Room in New York, Fukiagi Hall in Japan, Auckland Festival, and Beco das Garrafas in Rio de Janeiro. Every week we bring new artists from Australia and across the world to perform covers and original tunes. We also have guest speakers and our Cheeky Chica brand ambassadors who make an appearance too.
